About
Meet Coach Gus Freeman
Coach Gus Freeman has spent years working with college baseball players, recruits, families, and coaches.
Through those conversations, he has seen how difficult it can be for high school players to understand the realities of college baseball.
Players are often expected to make major decisions with incomplete information. Families may hear conflicting advice about recruiting, scholarships, showcases, playing time, transfers, and the different levels of college baseball.
GusBall was created to make those conversations more honest and easier to understand.

How he coaches
Coach Gus's Approach
Coach Gus believes players should be encouraged, but they should also be prepared. That means talking honestly about the whole picture — not just baseball.
- Competition for roster spots
- The work required to earn playing time
- Academic expectations
- Financial realities
- Strength and physical development
- Communication with coaches
- Transfers and program fit
- Life away from home
- Personal responsibility
His advice is designed to help players make informed decisions, not emotional ones.
The line
A Coach, Not a Salesperson
GusBall does not sell recruiting promises.
It does not rank players. It does not guarantee scholarships, roster spots, or playing time. It does not promote one school as the right answer for every athlete.
Coach Gus shares practical guidance based on experience in college baseball so players and families can ask better questions and evaluate opportunities more carefully.
Professional boundary
Coach Gus is an active college baseball coach.
GusBall is an independent educational platform and is not an official publication, recruiting channel, or communication platform for his employer.
The opinions and educational content shared on GusBall are Coach Gus's own.
GusBall does not discuss confidential team matters, active recruits, individual player evaluations, or internal information from any college baseball program.
I created GusBall because players and families deserve honest answers.
College baseball can be a great experience, but every path is different. I want players to understand the work, the competition, the cost, and the questions they need to ask before making a decision.
My goal is not to tell anyone where to go. My goal is to help them make a more informed choice.
